Description

This XO (Extra Old) Cognac is a luxurious type of brandy made by Courvoisier, one of the four major Cognac houses, and is produced in the famous Cognac region of France. It usually comes in a 750ml bottle (or 70cl in some markets) and has an alcohol content of 40% (80 proof).

Crafted by blending very old grape brandies, called eaux-de-vie, the brandies are aged 11 to 25 years or more, exceeding the minimum requirement for XO, and come from the top-growing regions of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Borderies. This careful selection creates a rich flavor profile with floral notes like iris, along with hints of vanilla, nutmeg, candied orange, plum, fig, and raisin.

The taste is smooth and rounded, offering layers of orange, vanilla, crème brûlée, and subtle spices such as cinnamon and allspice, while the finish is long, mellow, and deeply satisfying. Highly praised and awarded worldwide, this Cognac comes in Courvoisier’s signature teardrop-shaped bottle and is best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its flavor and richness. Courvoisier is also famously known as “The Cognac of Napoleon”, a title inspired by Napoleon’s visit in 1811.
