Bulleit Bourbon was created and distilled in Louisville, Kentucky dating back to the 1830s. A tavern owner named Augustus Bulleit began testing out different recipes to create a new bourbon. At that time many owners of pubs and bars would create their own batch of whiskey. They would add caramel, rock candy, or tobacco, in order to produce their own spirits.
After experimenting repeatedly, who knows how many trials he had, Bulleit found a recipe that suited his taste. He ended up producing the perfect bourbon. In the 1860s, Bulleit vanished while transporting some of his maturing casks from Kentucky to New Orleans. Over a century later, his great-great-grandson, Tom Bulleit, inherited the family recipe and started producing Bulleit Bourbon.
