Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon London Dry Gin is built around citrus from Murcia, in southeast Spain. Its heart is the Murcian Fino lemon. Mandarins and sweet navel oranges join in to round it out. “Premier Cru” means “best growth,” a nod to how carefully the fruit is chosen.

The lemons come from a single late harvest, when their oils are strongest. Growers pick and peel them by hand at peak ripeness. The peel is then dried in the Mediterranean sun. At Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire, England, the botanicals go through Bombay’s Vapor Infusion process. Master Distiller Dr Anne Brock picks the cut for each small batch. No artificial flavors are added.

You’ll notice zesty citrus first, with juniper and a little pepper underneath. The sip feels rich and slightly oily. Bright lemon and rounder orange lead, yet the juniper still comes through. The finish is long and smooth. Crisp citrus fades into pithy peel and warm spice.

Pour it with tonic and a lemon wheel for an easy highball. It also makes a clean martini, a French 75, or a bright Negroni. You can keep it simple with soda and ice too. Serve it with seafood or citrus-forward dishes.
