    Description

Belle Glos Clark & Telephone is a Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley in Santa Barbara County. It comes from Joseph Wagner, a fifth-generation winemaker from the family behind Caymus. He named Belle Glos after his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner.

The wine takes its name from the Clark & Telephone Vineyard. The vines there were planted in 1972 on their own roots. They grow the Martini clone, which brings deep cranberry and raspberry fruit and plenty of brown spice.

This is a big, plush style of Pinot Noir. Pour a glass and you smell blackberry, raspberry and ripe cherry, with warm spice underneath. Critic Prince of Pinot has also noted purple rose and oak vanilla on the nose. The palate brings more dark berry fruit, a little chocolate and brown spice like cinnamon and clove. The texture is velvety, and the finish is long and well structured.

Wine Enthusiast gave the 2023 vintage 90 points and called it thick and bold. Each vintage varies a bit, so the label year is worth a glance.

Serve it slightly cool, around cellar temperature. It loves roasted meats, grilled steak, lamb and mushroom dishes. If you enjoy a ripe, generous Pinot Noir with plenty of fruit, this one is a fine pick. Browse our full wine range for more California favorites.
