Description

Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye comes from Alberta Distillers in Calgary, Canada. It is made from 100% Canadian prairie rye and glacier-fed Rocky Mountain spring water. The whisky ages in new white oak barrels. It goes into the bottle at cask strength, so no water is added first.

This rye whiskey arrives in limited yearly batches, and the strength shifts a little each time. The nose is sweet and woody, with oak and a hint of vanilla. Caramel, vanilla and a touch of chocolate fill the palate. Rye spice and black currant keep that sweetness in check. The finish is smooth and long, with spice, warm vanilla and dark fruit.

Judges keep taking notice. It earned Double Gold in both 2020 and 2021 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The 2021 Canadian Whisky Awards named it Best All Rye Whisky. That same year, the International Whisky Competition ranked it the top Canadian whisky.
