Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750Ml)

Description

Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Perthshire. Brothers John and Tommy Dewar of John Dewar & Sons founded the distillery in 1896. Distilling began in 1898, and it's still a key name in Scotch whisky.

The barley is ground in a Porteus mill. It ferments in washbacks and runs through copper pot stills. The new spirit rests in first-fill, refill and re-charred bourbon casks. Six months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks finish it. It joined the Last Great Malts range in 2015.

Nose it and you'll find honey, citrus and spicy cloves. Raisins, cinnamon, butterscotch, caramel and apple follow. The palate is sherried like fruitcake, with clementine and dark chocolate. The rich finish brings ginger, waxy peel and oak.

In 2022 the San Francisco World Spirits Competition handed this dram Double Gold. You'll also see Gold from the International Spirits Challenge (2020, 2022). The International Wine & Spirit Competition rated it Gold Outstanding in 2019 and 2022.

Pour it neat or with a few drops of water. It suits fans of honeyed, sherried malts.
