Description

10th Mountain Rye Whiskey comes from a small distillery in Vail and Gypsum, Colorado. The name honors the Army’s 10th Mountain Division, which trained for alpine combat at Camp Hale.

The mash is 69% rye, 27% corn and 4% malted barley. It spends two winters in new charred oak barrels and is bottled at 43% ABV. In the glass it looks golden amber.

On the nose you find oak, dark fruit and light caramel, plus a hint of cinnamon. The palate is spicy and full-bodied, with a touch of toffee. It ends dry, and the spice and oak linger.

Judges have noticed it. It won Double Gold at the Global Spirits Competition and the New York International Spirits Competition. It earned Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition as well. It also took Platinum at the Ascot Awards and Gold at the 2021 Whiskies of the World Awards.
