Description
Domaine Jean Chartron is a renowned family winery that has been run for five generations since 1859, located in Puligny-Montrachet. The wine is produced in Chassagne-Montrachet, one of Burgundy’s most esteemed white wine villages in France, and comes from the Côte de Beaune region. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, the classic white grape of Burgundy, this wine is highly regarded for its balance, complexity, and excellent aging potential.
The vineyards grow in limestone and clay soils, which contribute to the wine’s depth and distinctive minerality, while many vines are mature and carefully managed using organic practices. Typically, the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels, with about 30% new oak, resulting in subtle notes of vanilla and toasted oak. On the nose and palate, it offers a delightful mix of lemon, pear, apricot, white flowers, and mineral hints, with a smooth, creamy texture, crisp acidity, and a long, elegant finish.
This Village-level wine, sometimes including grapes from young Premier Cru vines, pairs beautifully with seafood such as scallops or lobster, poultry, and creamy dishes like risottos. Enjoy it young for immediate pleasure, or allow it to age gracefully for five to eight years or longer, depending on the vintage. Bottled in a standard 750ml format with around 13% alcohol, it promises a refined and approachable experience.
