This wine is crafted by The Hess Collection, now known as Hess Persson Estates. It is mainly a Cabernet Sauvignon (about 80–90%) blended with a touch of Petite Sirah, Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot to add extra flavor and depth. The grapes come from Napa Valley, California, with most grown in the Allomi Vineyard, nestled in the gentle hills of Pope Valley in northeastern Napa.
This is a bold, full-bodied red wine that perfectly represents the Napa Valley style. It offers rich aromas of blackberry, black currant, plum, and cassis, with subtle notes of vanilla, mocha, cedar, and toasted oak. On the palate, it delivers deep dark fruit flavors with a smooth, round texture and soft tannins that lead to a long, fruity finish. The wine is aged in oak barrels, often American oak, which adds a touch of chocolate and spice.
Each vintage, such as 2021 or 2022, may differ slightly, but all are consistently well-rated, earning 89–93 points from critics like James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast. With 14–14.5% ABV, this wine pairs beautifully with grilled steaks, braised short ribs, hearty pastas, or barbecue, offering great value at around $25–$40 per bottle. Hess Persson Estates also follows sustainable farming practices in all their vineyards.
