So, why Cardhu? The distillery hails from Speyside, known for gentle malting and long fermentations. The Gold Reserve in particular is their more premium, master blender range of bottles. The aroma delivers baked apple, honeyed malt, warm vanilla, dried cherry, with a hint of tobacco. You can taste caramel, orange peel, cocoa nibs, and oaky spice. The finish is long and warming, and the texture is rounded and slightly oily, inviting slow, contemplative sips.

A Speyside single malt at 40% ABV, this is a Scotch many genuinely enjoy sipping. Pair it with roasted meats, aged cheese, or dark chocolate when you want the flavors to work together. Serve neat or add a splash of water to open it up. Yes, one can make many elevated cocktails, but a neat serve is the best place to start.
