Description

Beefeater 24 is a London Dry Gin with a modern, tea-led twist. Master Distiller Desmond Payne created it after travels in the Far East. He spent 18 months on the recipe before it launched in 2009. The gin is still made in London, at Beefeater's Kennington distillery. The name nods to the Yeomen Warders of the Tower of London.

Twelve natural botanicals go into every batch. Japanese sencha and Chinese green tea are the stars. Grapefruit, lemon and orange peel add zest. Juniper, almond, angelica, coriander, orris and liquorice fill out the recipe. The botanicals steep for 24 hours before distilling, which is where the name comes from.

Bottled at 45% ABV, it is a true London gin at heart. You smell juniper, grapefruit zest and soft green tea. On the palate, bright citrus and tea lead, with a hint of marzipan and woody spice. A light floral touch rounds it out. The finish is long, with piney juniper and a gentle tea grip.

Judges keep rewarding it. Beefeater lists Double Gold at the ISC and Gold at San Francisco. It also won Gold at the World Spirits Awards and the Gin Masters. The IWSC gave it Silver in both 2021 and 2022.
