About Lunazul Tequila

Lunazul was created by the Sauza family’s team of distillers and entrepreneurs who wanted to return to agave-first production methods while keeping the product accessible. Still, the tequila is made honestly. No shortcuts. It uses mature blue Weber agave, slow‑cooked in traditional ovens, and distills in copper pot stills to preserve aromatic oils. Lunazul’s approach blends respect for craft with modern efficiency. That means a shorter age time for fresher expressions, and careful filtration to keep flavors clean. 

It's not flashy. It's not complicated. It's straightforward - a good tequila to settle on.

1. Lunazul Tequila Blanco

Lunazul Blanco is bright and direct, with fresh agave, citrus peel, and a peppery finish that makes it a natural cocktail base. It’s unaged, so the agave character is front and center. Many folks like it because it mixes cleanly and keeps drinks tasting like tequila rather than sweetness that overpowers and overtakes.

2. Lunazul Tequila Reposado

Lunazul Reposado spends- a few months in oak, which softens the spirit and adds light vanilla and caramel notes. The oak influence is so gentle, you still get agave brightness - only with a rounder mouthfeel that works well in stirred cocktails or neat for casual sipping. 

3. Lunazul Tequila Añejo 

Lunazul Añejo is aged longer in oak barrels, bringing deeper caramel, toasted oak, and spice to the forefront while maintaining agave sweetness. It’s a good step up for someone who wants more warmth and complexity without moving into heavy, expensive sippers. 

Awards and Recognition

Bottles like their Blanco have snagged the prestigious Chairman's Trophy in the Blanco category with a score of 96 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2018. The Reposado, on the other hand, received "Best of Show" and a Double Gold medal at the 2018 WSWA Tasting Competition as well as a Gold at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
