Description

Oban Little Bay is a Highland single malt from Oban, one of Scotland's oldest distilleries. The distillery sits on the west coast and dates back to 1794. This bottling matures in refill American oak hogsheads, European oak sherry casks and refill casks with new ends. The whiskies are then married together in small oak casks. It carries no age statement and is bottled at 43% ABV.

Lift the glass and you'll find an oily, nutty richness. Ripe orchard fruit follows, along with almond fruit cake and a hint of Christmas pudding. Cereal and orange sit further back.

The palate is chewy, like a slice of rich fruit bread. Orange zest and clove add warmth. It turns drier as it goes, with a cool minty touch and crisp green apple. The finish is long. It starts almost syrupy, then dries out with coating tannins and dark chocolate.

Little Bay has a fine record with judges. The San Francisco World Spirits Competition named it a Double Gold winner in 2016, then again in 2025. It also scored 96 points at the 2016 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
