The Ardbeg
Scotch collection features Malts sourced from the small, remote Scottish island of Islay. Established in 1815, Ardbeg is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts widely available. Despite its smokiness, Ardbeg scotch is renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon that has affectionately become known as 'the peaty paradox'. Ardbeg Fermentation Committee Release is a 13 year old dram which came about from what they refer to as a happy accident. Typically, Ardbeg is fermented for only 72 hours whereas this 2022 Committee Release was fermented for three entire weeks! Following, they took a chance and decided to age the ultra-fermented result in both first and refill bourbon casks. The Aromas are complex combinations of floral, herbal, fresh, and tart notes Including cedar wood, citrus peels, menthol, peppermint, tar, anise, hay and bread dough. The palate is vibrant with a sharp texture and lively flavors of malty biscuits, aniseed, cardamom, menthol, toffee and tobacco. The finish is long and lingering with a minerality and an aftertaste with hints of oak, leather, tar and mint.
