ALCOHOL AT ITS BEST

Make a special alcoholic treat any time of the year; learn to make a few interesting recipes that are good for any occasion. A ‘Frozen Negroni’ is a great drink for summer time; be sure to store a batch of the frozen mixture in the freezer overnight so you have plenty of it that won’t melt in the hot sun. To make this incredibly tasty drink, combine 4.5 oz. fin, 2.5 oz. Campari, and 2.5 oz. Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth in an airtight container. Please in freezer for at least 8 hours, and up for 3 days. When ready to serve this tasty treat, add chilled alcohol and ice to blender, blend on high until smooth (about 30 seconds), pour into a small wine glass, and then garnish with an orange slice. This will be your summer slushy, so make extra for later. An ‘Auld Draper’ is a super simple and delicious drink. To make it, add 2 oz. dry gin, ¾ oz. Byrrh, and 3 dashes of orange bitters to a mixing glass, fill 2/3 with ice, stir until well chilled, strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice, and then garnish with a flamed orange peel.

Back in the 1800’s, drinks made with Angostura bitters were the savior of sea sickness for the British Navy. To make a delightful drink from ages ago, add 2 oz. London dry gin and 15 dashes of Angostura bitters to a mixing glass. Fill 2/3 with ice, stir well, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and then garnish with a lemon twist. Try the common ‘Old Fashioned.’ The world knows it well; it’s made by placing 1 teaspoon of sugar in an Old Fashioned glass, douse with 2-3 Angostura bitters, add a few drops of water, add 2 oz. rye whiskey and stir until sugar is dissolved. Then add several large ice cubes, stir quickly to chill, and then garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Frozen alcoholic drinks are the best way to go for a cool summer; enjoy a new adventure with a classic and tasty drink in your hand.
