History

Cabernet Sauvignon

The estates from where the grapes used to make Chimney Rock 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon lies in the heart of the Stags Leap District. This district is the first viticulture area in the county of the US to be approved based on the distinctive characteristics of the soil in the area. The district is located on the Silverado Trail, on the north of the town of Napa.

Grapes were first planted in the area in 1870s and the first winery in the area was established on 1878. Although the area is much famous for Cabernet Sauvignon, it was planted only in 1961. Chimney Rock owns about ten percent of the land in the area and the estate is considered one of the premium wine estates of California.

The wine is now made by Brazilian-born Elizabeth Vianna and she has been the winemaker at Chimney since 2001. Vianna prefers to work with grapes that are not over ripe, as it will offer great balance to the wine.

Winemaker’s Note

The wine is a blend of more than ninety percent Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot. Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon keeps the promise of the Stags Leap District area. The wine is structured finely with tannins and it makes the wine much approachable on release.

Chimney Rock 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is much known for its perfect balance of finesse and powder. This wine is consistently praised by the wine lovers and is highly sought by the collectors. Experts say that the wine is rich with affluent fruits like black cherry and blackberry, rich cassis, along with the hints of vanilla, cocoa powder, and toffee.

On the palate, the wine is richly textured and has a classic and lush mid palate. Moreover, the finish of the drink is lengthy and rich, and it is a perfect match for classy dinner parties.
