Smirnoff opened their distilleries in 1864 and became the world's favorite
vodka over the century. Smirnoff was established by P.A. Smirnov in Moscow, Russia. P.A. became famous by filtering his vodka through charcoal columns more than the rest of his competition. He distilled it five times before filtering the vodka. This process is an essential part of creating the "St. Petersburg model". In 1896 P.A. Smirnov creates the "Table Wine No.21" and becomes the most successful selling vodka. Where peasants and czars can enjoy alike. The vodka was so successful it won awards and accolades worldwide. The recipe is now called "Smirnoff Recipe No.21". Vladimir Smirnov joins the company in 1896 and joins the board at the age of 21. In 1914 Russia goes dry and forces Smirnoff to close their doors. Vladimir soon joins the anti-Bolshevik White Army and helps refugees escape through Southern Russia. He is eventually caught, imprisoned, tortured, and sentenced to death through firing squad. Vladimir is lucky to ecape death and is liberated by the White Army. He's taken to Crimea and travels to Constantinople. He arrives to Poland and starts looking for investors and establishes "Pierre Smirnoff Sons" to produce the Smirnov brand. In 1919 the Polish law changes and he is forced to halt production. IN 1925 he imigrates to Nice, France and starts to produce his family line vodka there. He changes the name to Smirnoff and saves his company from bankrupcy.. He starts to sell No.21 across France. In 1933 he continues to seek for investors and visits New York. He decided to purchase the rights to sell Smirnoff in North America. In 1934 he passes away and leaves the business to his third wife, Tatyana, and fails to see his new enterprise in America. In 2018 Smirnoff becomes the World's #1 Vodka and continues the family tradition since 186, by filtering it ten times before bottling. Smirnoff has become a household name brand.
