Description

Frey Ranch Straight Rye comes from a working farm just east of the Sierra Nevada in Nevada. Colby Frey founded the whiskey side of the ranch, where his family has grown grain for over 165 years. He grew up with farm values and a can-do spirit. That love for the land grew into a love for distilling.

This rye starts with sustainably grown winter cereal rye from the ranch itself. The mash is 100% rye, with no other grain added. It is grown, distilled, aged and bottled on the farm. It rests at least five years and is Bottled-in-Bond at 100 proof. Fans of bold rye whiskey will feel right at home.

Pour a glass and you will find rye bread and caramel, with a playful hint of root beer candy and sarsaparilla. It feels full and smooth. Sweet spearmint, honey and soft almond come first, then ginger and black pepper bring the heat. The finish stays warm, with light grapefruit, honey, cacao nibs and rye spice.

The 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition gave it Double Gold. It also took Best of Show at Whiskies of the World. Gold at the 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards and 2025 ASCOT Double Platinum followed.
