"Built in Yakima Valley in Washington state in 1912, Ste. Michelle Vinters history dates back to the Repeal of Prohibition. Their acclaim, however, is rooted in their production of their first Cabernet Sauvignon. Guided by the legendary international winemaker, Andre Tchelistcheff, their 1967 release is noted for putting Washington state on the winemaking map. Nearly 50 years later, they continue to produce excellent wines. A warm spring and mild summer allowed this Chateau St. Michelle Gewurztraminer to develop ideal flavor and aroma.
The northern latitude of the Columbia Valley gives this Gewurztraminer nearly two more hours of sunlight than California vineyards, allowing for naturally sweet and lush flavors. The aromas of this Gewürztraminer are fruity, with hints of floral, leading into the palate with bright stone-fruit and floral notes accented with hints of clove. For pairing, the team at CWS suggests lingcod with black truffle oil or parmesan oysters. "
