Description

Bulleit Barrel Strength is Bulleit Bourbon at full power. It uses the same high-rye mash bill as the classic bottle. Here it goes into the bottle uncut and unfiltered, straight from the barrel. The proof shifts from batch to batch and usually lands between 120 and 125.

Bulleit ages and bottles it at the historic Stitzel-Weller site in Louisville, Kentucky. The label carries no age statement. What you get is a deeper color and a bolder version of a bourbon you may already know.

It pours a medium amber. The nose is calm for the strength, with gentle spice and sweet oak. Take a sip and it feels smooth, with maple, oak and nutmeg. The finish is long, dry and satiny. Light toffee shows up as the oak grows deeper.

Competition judges have taken notice. It won Double Gold and Best Straight Bourbon at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It also scored 92 points at the 2017 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

Try it neat first, in small sips. Then add a few drops of water or one big ice cube and see how it changes. It also makes a punchy Old Fashioned.
