If you were a Vampire Diaries fan, you’d know that Damon Salvatore, the lead character of the CW’s TV series, talks way too much about bourbon. But have you ever wondered what is so special about bourbon that even vampires (no pun intended) are addicted to it? Well, we cant talk about all the bourbons in a single article, so lets see what makes the 1792 Ridgemont Reserve bourbon a classic in this post.
This is a small batch bourbon, manufactured by Sazeracs Barton 1792 Distillery Bardstown, Kentucky. Earlier tagged with an 8-year age statement on the label, which you see no longer on the bottle after being dropped in 2013, this bourbon comes in a short, wide-bodied bottle. The bottle top is sealed with a natural cork, and wrapped with a fabric to give it a bucolic appearance. Oh, and if you were worried about the cork moving away from its place, it has a plastic wrapping as well to keep a check on that.
1792 Ridgemont Reserve is bottled at 93.7 Proof, and has a high rye component touch. The bourbon also gives you a peppery spicy aroma, with a pinch of citrus, and a lot of aged whisky barrel. If you take a sip of the bourbon, it would first feel a bit sweeter, with caramel at the top and vanilla deeper. You will get the rye flavor along with a heavy spicy feel and some orange and lemon touch mid way, followed by a heavier oak and barrel finish.
This is a classic, elegant, and mild bourbon, which would best suit those who love the rustic feel of rye in their whisky. The 1792 Ridgemont Reserve bourbon wont pounce on you with a strong flavor or aroma, but has power enough to tantalize your senses with a sweet, spicy, citric, and rye-dominated tingle. Whats more, there are rumors that Barton is coming up with a new string of 1792 bourbon, and the whisky is supposed to hit the stores by the end of the year.
