When in the mood for something sweet or refreshing, make a luxurious whiskey cocktail that will have all of your friends talking about for weeks; there are so many wonderful ways to create lovely drinks from whiskey.

For a refreshing, citrusy, and easy cocktail to make, try a ‘Blarney Stone.’ It’s made with 2 oz. Irish whiskey, 1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice from 2 whole limes, ginger beer (chilled), and a lime twist garnish. Add the whiskey and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice; shake until well chilled (15 seconds). Strain into an ice-filled highball glass; top with ginger beer, and then garnish with a lime twist.

For a more feminine drink with citrusy aromatics and silkiness, try a ‘Weeski.’ It’s made with 2 oz. Irish whiskey, 1 oz. Lillet Blanc, 1 teaspoon Cointreau, 2 dashes orange bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. To make it, combine all of the ingredients into a mixing glass and fill it with ice; stir for about 30 seconds or until well chilled, and then strain into a cocktail glass. Twist thin strip of lemon peel above the drink and use as a garnish.

Try something interesting today; a ‘Coke, peanuts, and whiskey.’ It’s made with 1 ¾ oz. Jack Daniel’s, 1 oz. peanut orgeat (2 cups roasted, unsalted peanuts, 1.5 c. sugar, 1 ¼ c. water, 1 tsp. orange flower water, and 1 oz. Brandy or Vodka), and Coca-Cola. Pour the whiskey and peanut orgeat into a rocks glass over ice, stir and top with Coca-Cola. Garnish with roasted peanuts. For the peanut Orgeat, pulverize peanuts in a food processor. In the meantime, combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves, making sure to allow mixture to boil for 2 minutes, and then add the peanuts.

Lower the heat, allowing mixture to simmer for a few more minutes, and then gradually increase the temperature; when mixture is about to boil, remove from heat and cover. Let mixture sit for 6 hours, and then strain through cheesecloth, discarding peanuts. Add orange flower water and brand/vodka. It will last for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Enjoy.
