MAGIC WITH TEQUILA

Can you make tequila taste better than it does alone? Surely the answer is yes! With some fun new recipes, you will be able to turn tequila into a tasty cocktail any night of the week. The ‘Café Del Prado’ is sweet and savory with a bit of coffee throughout. It’s made with 1.5 oz. tequila, 2 tsp. instant cocoa, 1 tsp. instant coffee, whipped cream, and fresh ground cinnamon. Put the coffee and cocoa in a mug and fill it with boiling water, and then add the tequila. Make sure to mix it very well. Top it off with tasty whipped cream, and then grate cinnamon on top. A ‘California Martini’ is tasty and refreshing. It’s made with 2 oz. tequila, 1 oz. sweet vermouth, ½ oz. dry vermouth, and 1 Maraschino cherry. In a mixing glass half filled with ice cubes, combine the tequila, sweet vermouth, and dry vermouth. Stir well, and then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with the cherry.

Can you or can you not enjoy a sugary tequila treat? I believe you ‘Can Can.’ This drink is made with 1.5 oz. tequila, ½ oz. dry vermouth, 4 oz. grapefruit juice, ½ tsp. sugar syrup, and 1 orange slice. Mix all of the ingredients (except the orange slice) in a shaker or blender with cracked ice, and then pour into a double Old-Fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange slice. If you’re looking for a bit of tartness to your cocktail, try the ‘Cantarito.’ It’s made with 1.5 oz. of Regional Blanco Tequila, juice of 2 limes, juice of 1 small ripe Ruby Red Grapefruit (2 oz.), 1 tsp. coarse salt, and a bit of Squirt. Add ice cubes to a mug about 1/3 full, add all of the ingredients, stir, and then stir with a straw. This drink will cool you on a hot day. Enjoy.
