Everyone enjoys a little guilty pleasure every now and then; a couple of things that are really amazing together are candy and beer. There are literally thousands of fun combinations to make your day a little brighter. Rules simple don’t exist; if you can manifest it, then you can go for it. There are however a few things to consider before deciding which beers to drink with each candy. Consider texture: smooth, mellow beers go well with smooth creamy textures like milk chocolate. High carbonation beers can help cut a more sour candy. Consider intensity: drinking an IPA creates a strong flavor on your palate, so it will go well with a candy that can take a punch. Pair an intense beer with an equally intense candy. Flavor is very important; every beer and candy has a dominate flavor such as caramel, chocolate, or peach. Make sure you can picture the two meshing well together. Going with your gut is usually best even if it doesn’t make sense. A good pairing would be milk chocolate peanut clusters with Brown Ale. Another fun one is an Orange Jelly Belly Bean with Orange Wheat beer. White Ale and Candy Corn are just delightful. Your taste buds will feel like a kid again. If you like caramel, then you will love trying Caramel Corn with Belgian Dubbel Ale. One of the better combinations is dark chocolate almonds paired with chocolate stout. It’s very delicious. Dark chocolate covered pretzels and Imperial Stout is quite the fun match up too. Peanut Brittle with Scotch Ale is sweet and savory. If you are a sour fan, try sour gummy works with IPA. It will really liven up your palate. Literally no matter what combination you end up with, you are still having a nice beer and eating candy. It’s a win-win situation. Enjoy and share with others.
