PARTY TIME WITH WHISKEY COCKTAILS

It’s party time soon, so gather all of your friends just in time to show off your cocktail making skills!

When you’re in the mood for a little spice, Sriracha might just be the perfect culprit to try; a ‘Sriracha Hot Toddy’ will set you palate straight. Grab whiskey, ginger, lemon, and sriracha. In a little bowl, whisk together a tablespoon of lemon juice, a bit of honey, and some sriracha sauce. Add a cup of whiskey into a small saucepan; add 3 cups of water and a few chunks of ginger. Let that simmer for about 10 minutes. Add a few lemon slices and the sriracha mixture; let that simmer for another 10 minutes. Garnish with a ginger slice for added flavor and serve in a glass cup.

For a simple yes sophisticated drink, make a ‘Rusty Nail.’ It’s made with 2 oz. blended scotch, ½ oz. Drambuie, and a dash of angostura bitters. Fills a rocks glass with ice; add scotch, Drambuie, and the bitters. Stir and serve.

Add some sugar and love into a whiskey drink tonight; a ‘John Collins’ is the perfect party starter. It’s made with 2 oz. bourbon whiskey, 1 oz. lemon juice, 1 tsp. superfine sugar, 3 oz. club soda, 1 maraschino cherry, and 1 orange slice. In a shaker half-filled with ice, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, and sugar. Stir that well and then strain into a Collins glass; add the club soda, stir, and then garnish with the cherry and orange slice.

For a fun drink with an interesting name, try a ‘Suffering Bastard.’ It’s made with 1 oz. bourbon, 1 oz. gin, 1 oz. fresh lime juice, a dash of angostura bitters, and 4 oz. chilled ginger ale. Pour all of the ingredients into an ice-filled old fashioned glass and then top with ginger ale. Add more ice if needed. Garnish with a sprig of mint or an orange slice. Enjoy.
