Arran began their first distillery in Lochranza, a village on the Isle of Arran, Scotland, nearly 30 years ago. Close to Loch na Davie, the location was ideal for a unique source of fresh water for distilling. Later, in 2019 they opened their second distillery at Lagg, a village on the southern part of the island. Here, they developed their distinct style of peated single malt and continued to grow their scotch-making craft. Arran Single malt Quarter Cask is a delightful cask strength single malt with intensely fruity notes. Bringing back the small cask tradition of the eighteenth & nineteenth centuries, this rich expression was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then transferred to fine American oak quarter casks. The smaller cask size fostered a quicker, more powerful maturation process through the high whisky and oak contact, resulting in a full-bodied and complex scotch. On the nose are notes of apples, freshly baked buns, and a hint of pineapple. The palate is full of citrus, sweet spice and vanilla which carries over into a tropical finish with honey, pineapple, and coconut notes.
