An ‘Alpine Manhattan’ is a good drink to start out with. It’s made with ice, 1.5 oz. bourbon, 1 oz. pine syrup, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, and an orange twist for garnish. Fill a pint glass with ice; add the bourbon, bitters, and pine syrup. Stir it well and then strain it into a chilled coupe. Garnish with the orange twist for added color and flavor.
Enjoy tea-infused bourbon with a ‘Palmer Park Swizzle.’ It’s made with 2 c. bourbon, 1 black tea bag, 1 oz. fresh lime juice, ¾ oz. simple syrup, 8 mint leaves, 1 mint sprig for garnish, and ice cubes. In a quart-sized jar, steep the bourbon with the tea bag for 2 hours, and then discard the tea bag. Fill a shaker with ice, and then add the lime juice, simple syrup, mint leaves, and the 2 oz. of tea-infused bourbon. Shake it well, and then strain into a Collins glass. Garnish with the mint sprig.
Vanilla is tasty and really goes well with many things, especially in a ‘Vanilla Old Fashioned.’ It’s made with one 1-inch piece of vanilla bean (split), one 1-inch piece of orange zest, ¼ oz. simple syrup, 2 dashes of orange bitters, 2 oz. bourbon, 1 orange wheel, and ice. In a rocks glass, muddle the vanilla bean and orange zest with the simple syrup and bitters. Add the bourbon and ice, and then stir and garnish with the orange wheel. This drink is sweet and savory; it is a great drink to make at an after work party. Enjoy all of the fun and new cocktails you can make on your own.
